We’re finally allowed to SING, albeit that we need to keep masks on while we do so. The green hymn books will be set out with the service guide booklets in advance and any hymns not from the NEH are printed in the service booklet, as of old. There will be a box at the back of the church to place your used hymn book in at the end of the service. We have sufficient hymn books that the same ones won’t come round again for several weeks. Singing behind masks may sound a bit like medium wave radio (remember that?), but it’s nice to have the opportunity; last week worked better than expected; let’s build on that!

St John’s is delighted to congratulate our Director of Choral and Organ Music, Jamie Brand, on the award of the MBE for Services to Music and Education in the Birthday Honours list.  As well as a demanding job as Principal Teacher of Expressive Arts, he directs our own choir and oversees all of our more traditional music as well as leading a number of local and regional choirs.  Jamie also somehow finds time to be fully involved in a number of other whole school activities at Annan Academy, to support other activities at St J’s and to take an active part in the running of his family’s farm in East Lothian.  We salute, and are very grateful for, his faithfulness and the skill, good sense and energy he brings to all these activities.

Welcome
