Please note that, although she may be about the premises some of the time, the Rector will be on holiday for two weeks, from Saturday, 28/08/2021, until Sunday, 12/09/2021. Any pastoral matters will be covered, during this time, by the Revd Dr Steven Ballard, who can be contacted via the Church Office: 07754 596140 / pastadmin@stjohnsdumfries.org

Annual General Meeting: The AGM will take place on the 26th September as usual in the context of the 11am service. The formal notice is on the noticeboard at the back of the church. We will need to elect 4 Vestry members and the Lay Representative, the Alternate Representative and the representative to the Regional Council. Nomination papers are on the table at the back of church.

Refreshments after today’s service (Sunday, 05/09/2021) will be available in the Hall. Mostly, you need to be seated, though you can come up to the serving table to be…well, served. Please follow the directions as to how this will work. Things may be slightly limited in scope, at least for the time being, partly due to Covid and partly because we’re just getting going again and are short of volunteers. If this is something you could help with, please don’t hesistate! Speak to Jenny Lawson or David Kerr.

The Scottish Episcopal Institute says…Please pray for those to be ordained to the Diaconate and licensed to Lay Readership, Michaelmas 2021: Lisa Curtice, Claire Nicholson, Lesley Penny, Philip Schonken and Sandra Wright. Further details can be found on the lit noticeboard, or the website (www.stjohnsdumfries.org)

September 2021 News from the Scottish Episcopal Institute can be found on the lit noticeboard and also the St J’s website (www.stjohnsdumfries.org). The office can also provide paper copies on request.

News from Bethany Christian Trust can be viewed on the lit noticeboard, and also the St J’s website (www.stjohnsdumfries.org).

From Harvest Sunday (03/10/2021), we plan to restart our regular collection of items for First Base Food Bank. Current intention is that there will be some stackable crates beside the lit noticeboard just inside the glass doors, into which items can be placed. Keep an eye out and watch for further announcements.

Short mat Bowling resumes in the hall on Tuesday 14th of September at 7:15pm. Contact Ashley Cross or the Church Office for details.

Quiz night in the hall on Friday 24th September at 7:30pm. Contact Carolynne Sorrell, Ashley Cross or the Church Office.

As for the resumption of the rest of our normal activities, please see the detailed notice on the lit noticeboard in the church, the noticeboard in the car park, or the website (www.stjohnsdumfries.org). Any queries: pastadmin@stjohnsdumfries / 07754 596140.

When this happens, it’s usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it’s been deleted.
